DEVONthink To Go 4.1 Lagrange

We’re naming this release after the mathematician Joseph-Louis Lagrange (1736–1813) who made significant contributions to the fields of analysis, number theory, and both classical and celestial mechanics. Lagrange’s work has had a profound impact on our understanding of celestial mechanics and has practical applications in space exploration. His solution to a special form of the three-body problem, the Lagrangian points, represent the perfect balance of the gravitational forces of two stellar bodies.

New widgets give you access to your data right on your home screen. Keep an eye on inbox items, unread news articles, or your reading list. Quickly open your favorites or the top four most recently viewed documents with a single tap.

Read your news and favorite blogs directly in the app. Add RSS or Atom feeds and get the articles downloaded in various formats, even in the background. Let the app remove older articles automatically.

DEVONthink To Go 4.0 Kepler

November 2025

We’re naming this release after the German astronomer Johannes Kepler (1571-1630) who revolutionized astronomy by discovering the laws of planetary motion, proving that planets orbit the Sun in ellipses. His work bridged observation and mathematics, exemplifying how curiosity, precision, and persistence lead to discovery and create knowledge.

The new chat assistant analyzes selected documents or texts, allows you to interactively work with text, or performs actions. Generative AI is optional and supports providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic or Mistral AI, as well as locally installed models via e.g. Ollama or LM Studio for privacy.

Define your own custom metadata fields to track projects, priorities, clients, or anything else that matters to you. All custom metadata is fully searchable and seamlessly syncs with DEVONthink for Mac, giving you consistent, flexible organization across all your devices.

Find exactly what you need with a powerful new search language that also supports suffix searches. Construct complex queries or let the AI-powered search assistant convert queries written in plain English. Smart groups collect matching items across your databases.

For changes to, e.g., text documents or PDFs, DEVONthink To Go can automatically create versions that you can return to later if necessary. Save a new version manually when appropriate, and set how many versions DEVONthink To Go should keep. It never removes manually created versions.

Revision-proof databases restrict editing of documents and log deletions. Export an audit log at any time to prove that your data is consistent. Suitable for financial documents or other documents with special requirements for revision safety.

DEVONthink To Go 4.0 embraces Apple’s new Liquid Glass design language for all controls and popovers.

The redesigned and extended settings make every aspect of the app customizable, including the list and document toolbars.
