Last Friday, Mar 11, 2011, Japan was struck by a catastrophic earthquake followed by a tsunami and the melt-down of at least two nuclear power cores with yet-unknown effects on life in the region. In January DEVONtechnologies has joined the efforts of many independent software companies to help the victims of the earthquake that destroyed most of Haiti’s infrastructure on January 12, 2010, and made tens of thousands of people homeless. This Tuesday, Jan 12, 2010, Haiti, one of the poorest countries in the world, was struck by a catastrophic-scale earthquake. This morning a 17 year old boy killed ten pupils, three teachers, and three other people in his former school in Winnenden, less than 25 kilometers from where I live and work, north of Stuttgart, Germany. Me, my wife, and our children are spending this evening disturbed, watching the news and talking about the unbelievable.
