New in DEVONthink 3.0:
New in DEVONthink 3.0.2
The second update to DEVONthink 3 brings a long list of additions, enhancements, and fixes.
The sidebar that holds databases, favorites, smart groups, and more, gets keyboard navigation. This allows faster navigating through databases, expanding or collapsing groups, or jumping to groups by typing the first letters of their name. A new shortcut brings up the Sorter in search mode, and some menu commands received alternative options for, e.g., closing all windows at once or exporting PDFs without annotations.
Version 3.0.2 makes WikiLinking more reliable and supports better autocompletion when using square bracket syntax. New smart rule actions allow for moving external files into the database or documents from the database to an external folder. Individual items can be excluded from WikiLinking and subgroups excluded from the result set of smart groups and rules.
Further improvements include support for the Nisus Writer file format and the ability to create summaries of highlighted text passages also as Markdown. DEVONthink now finds also text that explicitly does not begin, contain, or end in a given string. Adding country and language metadata to documents is easier with the last used countries and languages listed at the top of the menu. And importing notes from Apple Notes on macOS Catalina includes embedded images as part of the note.
Finally, almost all parts of DEVONthink have received some attention in regard to performance and reliability. Many user interface elements respond faster and more consistently. The update also fixes several bugs and crashes.
For our users, DEVONthink is the workhorse at the center of their workflow. Therefore it has to cope with huge amounts of data, be fast and reliable, and provide power tools for serious information work. We want our users to be productive without struggling with the software they’re using. With this update we focused on exactly that.
