A Desktop Pond

June 2, 2020 — Jim Neumann

Many people have found benefit in watching fish in aquariums or ponds. The gentle movement and quiet sounds can provide a very calming effect. Wouldn’t it be nice to sit pond-side no matter where your computer is? Koi Pond 3D for macOS may be just what you need.

This wonderful application turns your Desktop into a beautifully rendered fish pond. Accompanied by optional Asian-inspired music and environmental sounds, the koi languidly swim around your desktop, providing a lovely relaxing atmosphere for your break times. There are ten species of fish and four ponds in the moderately priced version. Additional fish and ponds can be purchased for reasonable prices via in-app purchases. It may not solve all your problems, but it is a beautiful way to give your mind a little rest.

Do note the application can be a bit resource-hungry, so if you’re running it on battery power, it’s best to run it on break times, instead of all day long. However, there is an option in the preferences to pause it on battery power, or when battery power is low.
