Fixing DEVONthink's Hidden Settings

In addition to the regular settings, DEVONthink also offers some hidden preferences that can be accessed via the Help menu. These are no less useful than the regular ones, but they are simply not needed by as many people. We have already introduced these hidden settings in an previous blog post. Unfortunately, Apple has made changes to the way application help works, so the hidden settings no longer work that way. We have therefore prepared a fix for you so that you can use these additional settings again.

In DEVONthink choose Scripts > More Scripts and install the Open Hidden Preferences script. Then, open Scripts > Tabs and choose the script. The proper help page will open in a new window. Browse through the options and click the On or Off links, as needed.

This script is for settings with On/Off links, so things you merely toggle on or off. If you want to use other settings, like changing the number of digits when using a Bates Number, please read the preamble to the section on how to use these other settings.
