Never Miss What's Going On at Your School

September 8, 2015 — Jim Neumann

Whether it’s high school or university, there’s always a lot going on. And regardless if you are a parent or a student, you want to keep up on the goings-on at school. RSS is a simple technology (called a “feed”) that lets you collect news without visiting web pages manually. DEVONthink Pro and Pro Office allow you to add RSS feeds to a database and can help keep you up to date.

For example, here’s a list of RSS feeds from the campus of Michigan State University. You’d copy the web address, then simply choose Data > New > Feed… and paste in the URL of the feed you copied. The feed should rename itself and start filling up with news as it becomes available.

Check out your school or university’s website for RSS feeds. If you don’t find any, call your school’s office and make the suggestion they offer RSS feeds to help keep you informed.

Side note: Of course there are many RSS feeds available on a multitude of topics. Look for them on your favorite web sites, e.g. with DEVONagent Pro. It lists all available feeds and lets you add them to DEVONthink easily.
