Get Item Links with Bubble Gum

DEVONthink and DEVONthink To Go allow you to get an item link for any document, group, or database and insert it anywhere else on your Mac, iPad, or iPhone where you can use links. Add an item link to an important document to a task in OmniFocus or Things. When you start working on the task you have the document ready with a single click or tap. Item links even work across device boundaries; links grabbed on the Mac and added to OmniFocus will work also in OmniFocus on your iPhone and vice versa.

And DEVONthink is not the only app offering URLs for conveniently letting other apps link to materials. Scotty Jackson, co-host of the excellent productivity podcast Nested Folders, which unfortunately closed its doors in January 2023, has created a great iOS shortcut named Bubble Gum for quickly searching for materials and copying links to them to the clipboard. It supports a growing list of apps including DEVONthink To Go. Bubble Gum is especially useful when you know what you’re looking for and just call the shortcut from Spotlight, regardless in what app you’re currently working.
