License Server Failure

Just in time for the Christmas holidays our FileMaker server failed and corrupted our customer and license database. We have, of course, tons of backups and I restored all functionality but it may be that some recently added licenses have not made it. So if you have recently purchased (within the last five days, approximately) and have not received your license code, please email us and we’ll see what happened to your license here in our database. Sorry for the hassles.

Under Heavy Load

So far the DEVONthink and DEVONnote 2.0 public beta launch went pretty well, which is, I think, a good sign :-) But we are currently under heavy load from all the various enquiries, from bug reports to upgrading questions. So if you sent us email and have not yet received a reply — please be patient. We’re answering one question at a time but we will answer all of them.

Right in Time for Xmas: DEVONthink and DEVONnote 2.0

We have promised that we would release DEVONthink 2.0 as a public beta before Christmas, and that is just what we have done today. All three editions of DEVONthink as well as DEVONnote are immediately available for downloading as 2.0 public beta. We have also updated all product pages as well as the feature comparison for all editions. Read yourself what’s new in DEVONthink 2.0 and DEVONnote 2.0 and have a look at our short news article, too. Finally, don’t forget to actually download the trial. (more)

Five Things You Could Want for Christmas

It’s time to get ready for Santa Claus and there is so many “stuff” out there that people think we should buy. Personally I have no affection to consumption binge, but Christmas time is also a season where we have some more time to devote to the things we wanted to do all the rest of the year — including, maybe, updating our software library, organizing our workspace, and reading books. Here are five suggestions what you could put onto your wish list: … (more)

Lately, in Eric's Kitchen

I already told you a number of times that we’re currently focused fully on getting version 2.0 ready for the public beta phase. So DEVONthink, DEVONthink, is all we’re thinking about. Need a proof? This is what accidently created itself (no kidding!) lately when I was making pancakes. I’m considering this a good omen. (more)

Use the Objects Drawer

When you are looking for specific information on a web page, say email addresses, images, movies, Office documents, or downloadable files, DEVONagent Pro’s Objects Drawer comes in handy. Open any web page in DEVONagent, from a search or directly using File > New Browser, and expand the right-hand sidebar. In the opened sidebar choose the type of information you want to extract, e.g., images, linked binary files, etc. DEVONagent immediately updates the list of found objects for the chosen type. Right-click any object to open it in a separate window, copy its link, or archive it in DEVONthink.

DEVONthink 2.0 Spotlight: Beta Tester Community Seeded

I promised to keep you all updated on the progress we make with DEVONthink 2.0. Today I am proud to tell you that we have just seeded the very first beta of DEVONthink Pro Office 2.0 to the closed beta testers group. Some features are still missing, especially interface-wise, but it’s already stable enough and useable. And while we continue adding the planned functionality it’s now up to our great beta tester community to put it through its paces.
