DEVONthink 2.11 and DEVONthink To Go 2.7, released today, add push notifications to the synchronization. Whenever you now make changes to your databases our app sends notifications to all your other devices telling them that something new is waiting for them. That means that it takes much less time before changes are available on all your devices. And as a bonus, it lets us wake up DEVONthink To Go, even when your iPhone or iPad is still in your pocket or bag, and pull the new data in the background. (more)
There are times people want to use Apple’s Spotlight to search for a file in a DEVONthink database. Without going too deeply in technical matters, Spotlight doesn’t index inside the type of file a DEVONthink database is. When syncing DEVONthink on macOS, you have the option of using a local sync location, called a local sync store. Technically it’s a folder on a volume that keeps databases in syncable form. Since it’s writing directly to a local disk, it’s by far the fastest and most transparent sync option. (more)

Last week Bloomberg Businessweek published an article named The Big Hack. The authors claim that testers have found a tiny microchip on server mainboards that wasn’t part of the original designs:
During the ensuing top-secret probe, which remains open more than three years later, investigators determined that the chips allowed the attackers to create a stealth doorway into any network that included the altered machines.
