Yesterday DEVONthink began to no longer launch for some people. The issue is related to an expired Apple provisioning profile and already hit many other applications earlier this year. Apple now provides profiles with a longer life period. This doesn’t do away with the problem forever but at least delays its next occurrence. (more)

OS X El Capitan is out and DEVONthink and DEVONnote 2.8.7 add some necessary changes for it. In addition to this we’ve overhauled the built-in synchronization both between Macs and from Mac to iOS. Importing or indexing files is up to twice as fast as in previous versions and DEVONthink 2.8.7 groups attachments and cross-links them when taking over notes from Evernote. (more)

OS X El Capitan became just available as public beta. Right in time, DEVONthink and DEVONnote 2.8.6 bring important compatibility changes for it. In addition, DEVONthink 2.8.6 supports images referenced in Markdown documents. When importing Bookends references, DEVONthink imports their keywords too. PDF text annotations created by other applications keep their appearance. They are only restyled as soon as you edit them with DEVONthink. (more)
We have already updated DEVONthink and DEVONagent with the necessary adjustments for OS X Yosemite. Today we’ve released DEVONsphere Express 1.8 as well as new versions of PhotoStickies and XMenu. DEVONsphere 1.8 adds support for Finder and Open Meta tags, Scapple files, and diagnostic reports. It also uses Open Graph properties of HTML pages and web pages to provide more accurate results. On OS X Mavericks and later version 1.8 indexes email messages again. The update also reduces DEVONsphere Express’ CPU usage and improves its performance and reliability. (more)
OS X Yosemite is peeking around the corner. Today we’ve released updates for DEVONagent Pro through Lite that get them ready for Apple’s newest iteration of its Mac operating system. In addition version 3.8.2 searches Baidu, the #1 search engine in China, and the Pro edition lets you easily share web content. Scanners in version 3.8.2 are more accurate and the new version better filters links to social media, e.g. retweets. (more)
OS X Yosemite, the newest incarnation of your Mac’s operating system, is about to be released. Version 2.8 prepares all editions of DEVONthink as well as DEVONnote for it with user interface adjustments and compatibility fixes. DEVONthink 2.8 also comes with a brand new sharing extension. It allows you to clip text and web addresses from other Mac apps with a single click in case you like this better than using drag-and-drop. (more)
Apple has just released DEVONthink To Go 1.4.3 to the App Store. The maintenance update makes the app display RTF documents again on iOS 8. Also, it brings new iOS-8-like visual style and fixes other minor glitches. (more)
Even though Google Chrome probably shares more information with its maker than you like, it also does a lot to protect you from the (other) bad guys — and sometimes also the good ones.
