In the last few months we focused on getting DEVONthink 3 ready for prime-time and so it had become a bit quiet around DEVONthink To Go. Today, version 2.7.2 has passed Apple’s review.
Our maintenance release brings the sync mechanism on par with DEVONthink 3, makes its handling of indexed items consistent to the Mac, and brings back the sync status sheet. Change the stacking order of PDF annotations and, finally, view highlight annotations added with DEVONthink on the Mac. If you’re a Bookends user you can now link to items stored in your favorite references manager using the Bookends URL scheme. (more)
The seventh public beta of DEVONthink 3 focuses on bug fixes and on compatibility to the upcoming macOS Catalina. It also improves updating items indexed on network volumes as well as the toolbar search and its interactions with other user interface elements. (more)
macOS Catalina is going into a new round of public beta testing and is expected to arrive for everyone this autumn. It brings changes to iTunes, Find My Friends, and Reminders, but also a lot of modifications to the underpinnings. One of these (almost) invisible changes is the end of support for 32-bit applications. You might have already been notified by your Mac about applications that need an update. (more)
While we’re approaching the final release, the sixth public beta of DEVONthink 3 brings further refinements including the ability to synchronize the Reading List and custom metadata definitions. The update also continues to fix bugs and improve the overall reliability and performance. (more)
Groups in databases can be flagged as favorites. Once flagged, the list of favorites appears at the top of the Sorter’s navigate list. This is an easy way to drag files into the Sorter and onto the desired group without having to navigate to the group in the database tree. (more)
Sometimes you might want to add data from Dropbox into your DEVONthink databases. With DEVONthink on a Mac this is as simple as dragging and dropping. On iOS, however, Dropbox’s mobile application doesn’t allow for this kind of interaction. So is there an option for easily adding Dropbox data to DEVONthink To Go? (more)
Today we’ve released a fifth public beta of DEVONthink 3 with further enhancements (read more about beta 4 here). From importing new data to dark mode, the synchronization, and the automation options we have revisited all parts of the applications. (more)
Suppose you’re working with a friend or colleague who isn’t running DEVONthink on her Mac (heaven forbid!). But they have a file you need and you have your iOS mobile device running DEVONthink To Go. Is there any way to get it transferred quickly and easily? (more)
After the first three public betas of DEVONthink 3 with their hundreds of new features and improvements we have today released the fourth beta. It further improves many aspects of the application, from working with documents to scripting, OCR, and the web interface. (more)
One of the requests we occasionally receive is: “Tell me how to create and set up my database in DEVONthink.” This seems like a simple enough question to answer, but in truth, it is not. While creating a database can be as simple as choosing File > New Database, the simplicity ends with structuring the database. (more)
